How bad crime wise is the eastside off houston street by the city/us cemetery
I just arrived in SA and buying a house I know the cheaper parts of town will have more crime but I found a house i really like, I would just like your opinion on this side of town,

You are at no more risk of being shot statistically in that area, than anywhere else in Texas, Though I wouldn't want to estimate the risk of zombie attack.
The Eastside of the city has gotten a bad reputation by some mostly based on property crime, and occasional personal crimes which are then inflated by the media.
Crime statistics for the area indicate the personal crime risk is equal to the total personal crime risk in Texas. The murder risk is lower, The rape and robbery risks slightly higher and the assault risk much lower than the Texas average, according to crime statistics.
However, the property crime in the area is an issue, The risk for property crime in the area is double the Texas average. the burglary risk is double, larceny risk is triple and the motor vehicle theft risk is 1.5 times higher than the Texas risk statistics.
Incidentally, the area immediately south of 410 on the Southside has almost identical risk statistics.
There are areas of the city where you would be more safe. These are statistically further north on the Eastside or further out from the central areas. The far west side (around Sea World) and the northern areas of the city, and some of the area inside the north half of the city inside the loop are safer.
The downtown/Southtown area you have a 2.5 times greater risk of being murdered than the Texas average statistically, and the property crime risk is double, yet it is the center of the tourism and cultural areas.

EDIT: AS a note, when I was young, blonde and scrawny, I lived on San Antonio's eastside. I am here (too many years later to admit) to tell about it. My family was later able to move into the Terrell Hills area, and now that I am in the Sonterra/Stone Oak area I will be the first to admit that the schools are safer and the area is overall safer. But there are many wonderful people living in east San Antonio. If you are happy with the home and the area, and it is in your price range, that is a consideration, but there are areas of the city with better crime statistics.
