how does a strong and proud woman handled super hard times and depression?
I am in pain 24/7, am losing my business and having a lot of problems with my children. One of my sons is in jail and through all of this, my daughter-n-law has moved to another city with my grandson that is 20 months old...after having him real close all this time. Its so hard to know that my son is sitting in jail and never been in trouble before, and that I don't know when I will see my grandson. And then on top of that my business is going down and I am trying to sell it with no luck! I am a very strong and proud woman and I am trying really hard to handle this and realize that things could be a lot worse, but sometimes I just don't think I want to deal with all of this anymore. By the way, I am on 40 mg. of prozac a day and you would think that would really help. NOT!!!!!!!!! Need some help here. thank you
Proud and strong women need to take some time to cry, to "fall apart," thats where the healing starts. You need rest, you need laughter. You need some "me" time. You have to realize that you cannot control the whole world, not even your whole world, nor do your need to spend your energy on trying to. So then, you have to take one thing at a time, and break them down into manageable parts, (I mean the things that you HAVE to manage, like the business of living...) Don't try to live all your future in today, it will make you crazy, but say "I can handle this one thing, I'll worry about tomorrow - tomorrow." The future has a way of working itself out. And if the grandchild thing can't be worked out peacefully, you have legal rights you know.
About the son, if all you can do is visit, then visit. You cannot allow yourself to worry about what you can't control, or fix. Do the parts you can, and put the rest of it in Gods hands, and get yourself some rest. God is a whole lot bigger than we are anyway.
I am sorry that you are feeling like you have to handle all this alone, I wish you had a friend to turn to. I really hope you feel better soon.
(P.S. I had a problem with the stress hormone - cortisol, not shutting off, because I was drinking too much soda, and the high frutose corn syrup was causing the cortisol to keep my STRESS level HIGH. I can now deal with things-- after I quit the sodas. I also started taking B vitamins. They help your nerves. And trust me-- I drank a lot of them. You might want to research (always research, because what helps me may not be good for everyone...) that and see if it would help out in your situation. It sounds like you have enough stress without the extra. Hope things work out for you.
