How rare is a US Mint sealed proof set that is missing a coin?
Specifically, I have a 1964 P Proof set that has no dime. It's in original packaging that has NOT been tampered with, and the space where the dime is supposed to be is EMPTY! Thanks in advance!
It's actually fairly common, and since it is possible for someone with practice to open a space, remove the coin, and reseal it, it's worth no more than a normal proof set, possibly less. There just isn't any added value in a packaging error.
