My door gasket on my Kenmore upright freezer doesn't seal when you close the door?
We received a fairly new upright freezer recently but it had to be in storage for a month. The storage unit was pretty warm the past month and so we placed a towel to prop open the freezer to keep moisture from being trapped inside. We brought it home yesterday and noticed the door wouldn't close all the way. The door seal is not laying flush with the freezer when the door is shut. We believe it had to do with where the towel was placed. The towel pressed the gasket down so now it won't seal properly. Will this come back to it's original shape in time or is there something we can do to it to help it along. OR do we need to replace the whole gasket? It's a SEARS Kenmore 6ft upright. Where do we find it and how easy is it to install? We would hate to have to discard this freezer after we just brought it home. Thank you for any suggestions you have.
give it a couple of days to see if the gasket comes back, then make sure it is sealing all the way around by using a piece of paper (like a dollar bill) under the gasket to make sure there is friction when you pull it out. Gaskets that I have replaced are held on with a metal strip that is screw in to keep the gasket in place. There is no adhesive required.
