It feels like so many people are easily influenced by what radio feeds them which in a way is understandable but you see people posting about Nickelback, Christina Aguliura, The Jonas Brothers, Good Charlotte all of which feel like marketing ploy mcdonalds bands that are there to please the record labels and sound safe and very dull to the musicians ear. while alot of the Exciting bands are pushed aside in the mainstream and ignored by radio station, i could name: the shins, spoon, queens of the stone age, radiohead, the strokes, tv on the radio, british sea power, super furry animals, doves, animal collective, (ryan not bryan) adams, Wilco. So many artists that deserve the praise and recognition for these bland wannabe celebrities like Pink and so forth. The 90's had a great combination of the great and the cheesy bands but this decade seems to have dropped the ball alot, Can any MUSIC fans out there relate to this?
I like the Super Furry Animals, I like 'Inconvenience' and 'Moped Eyes' but I hate the artwork from that album.
Well, most mainstream music is very catchy and not all tunes are catchy just a few and that's why it all sounds the same. Nobody can be bothered to find a new catchy tune, they just want to make money.
People like it because of the above reason, or because everybody else is listening to it but I don't understand how you can listen to over an hour of music you don't like.
There are some good modern artists like Ok Go, Mika, Sting, etc. but they don't get a lot of recognition.
But the absolute main reason for the music industry today is: Money.
